Closed testing is the fastest way to get a build into the hands of a small, controlled group before a wider release. Here is the exact sequence in Google Play Console.
1. Create the app entry
Sign in to Play Console, open your developer account and choose Create app. Fill in the app name, default language and app type, then accept the declarations.
2. Open the closed testing track
Go to Testing and then Closed testing. Create a new track and give it a name — for example “Beta” or “Round one”.
3. Build the testers list
Add testers by email. You can type addresses one by one or upload a CSV. Each tester receives an invite link they must accept before they can install the app.
4. Upload and roll out the build
Upload your AAB or APK, complete the content rating questionnaire and fill in the data safety form. When everything is reviewed, roll out the release to your testers.
5. Let the test run
Keep the track live for the full testing period — for Google’s production access requirements this typically means 14 days with at least 12 testers. The testers must stay opted in for the whole period.
